North China Petroleum Bureau builds the first experimental station of water-soluble helium extraction in geothermal wells in China

中石化试验站

Recently, China’s first experimental station of water-soluble helium extraction in geothermal wells has been built in No. 2 Geothermal Well Station in North China Petroleum Bureau Sanpu of Sinopec, which is located in Xianyang City, Shanxi Province. During the ten years from 2005 to 2015, Sinopec and Chinese Academy of Sciences take their respective advantages to complete the resource evaluation of basin water-soluble helium and development work of new technology and equipment of normal temperature membrane extracting helium in cooperation. From January to March in 2016, Sanpu cooperates with National Engineering Research Center of Membrane Technology in Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with the assistance of Sinopec Green Energy Geothermal Development Co., Ltd, to carry out water-soluble helium extraction in No.2 Geothermal Well Station in North China Petroleum Bureau. After 50 days of struggle, concentration of water-soluble helium increases from 3% to that between 50% and 60% in the wellhead, with 80% of the recovery rate. The continuous tests prove that testing equipments are advanced, with reliable performance and stable operation. Various indexes are reached and exceeding the design requirements.
