Focus of Two Sessions: support for shale gas in China may fall

As the CPPCC National Committee member and deputy chief engineer of Beijing Chemical Engineering Institute, Zhang Mingsen said that the support of China for shale gas may fall with the change of overall economic environment. As he knew, the project about shale gas development didn’t appear in the new major projects of China any more.

Zhang Mingsen expressed that China’s demand for oil had reached the peak substantially, leaving less room to increase with the falling increase rate. However, the future development prospect of China’s natural gas was still very broad with large room of demand and increase rate. The advance in the field of natural gas was not only related to the issue of economic development but also a question of alternative energy with advanced energy to replace the original energy, and we should make more effort in these aspects.
