U.S. crude futures rose 50 cents, or 0.74%, to $68.43 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, just 0.31% off a multiyear high reached in April. Brent, the global benchmark, rose 26 cents, or 0.35%, to $73.62 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. Investors are awaiting clarity on U.S. President Donald Trump’s position on the 2015 international nuclear deal, which eased sanctions against Iran in return for curbs on its nuclear program. Mr. Trump has been sharply critical of the deal. Mr. Trump is due to decide by May 12, and a withdrawal risks sanctions being reinstated.
