DJ Biggest Oil Market Changes Happening on Demand Side For the last three years, the oil market has been dominated by a surge in supply that glutted the market and dragged down prices, but now the biggest changes seem to be happening on the demand side, Morgan Stanley says. Refineries across the U.S, Europe, China, India and Brazil accounting for around half the world’s refining capacity are processing around 1.2 million barrels a day more crude than they were last year, a level the bank calls “staggering.” At the same time, weekly product stocks have fallen in recent weeks and refineries’ profit margins remain surprisingly robust, according to Morgan Stanley. While the bank maintains its oil price forecasts, it says the signs demand is improving indicate the risk is slowly skewing to the upside.
