After a quarter of a century, we’re still raising the bar with innovative desalination solutions. Our flagship P technology is the most efficient and reliable energy recovery solution on the market for desalination. This award-winning family of products is unmatched in the industry and has been widely adopted around the world for seawater desalination projects, both large and small. Our P product line includes the Q Series and the S Series, and the latest model, the P Prime.
Advanced Technology That’s Smart and Elegantly Simple
Our P devices have only one moving part. They’re made of a high purity, aluminum oxide ceramic that’s corrosion-proof, three times more abrasion-resistant than steel, and provides unmatched durability. The simplicity and modularity of this design allows for optimum scalability, quick startup, and no required maintenance. The P device captures hydraulic energy from the high pressure reject stream of seawater reverse-osmosis processes and transfers this energy to low pressure feed water with over 98% efficiency. Because the P device itself consumes no electrical power, the overall energy consumption of the seawater reverse-osmosis process is drastically reduced.
Highest Availability
Just one day of unplanned downtime per month can cost plant operators millions in lost revenue over the lifetime of the plant. The P device will never be responsible for unplanned downtime at your plant. Many of our devices have been in operation for as long as 12 years with no downtime, and our devices that had been recovered from the field, after years of operation, had no changes in performance.
Where Design meets Economics
Debris, temperature, and corrosive chemicals create a challenge that most engineering materials can’t withstand. Our ceramic technology surpasses the long-life durability required in harsh industrial environments, with a lifespan up to 25 years. P devices save hundreds of millions of dollars through energy reductions and maximizing runtime. They are proven perform for years without failure in harsh environments, offering unbeatable reliability and higher productivity. In fact, they work so well, there’s virtually no scheduled maintenance.
Supreme Flexibility
The P technology requires a much smaller high-pressure pump than conventionally used. Even more crucial, P technology disassociates the high-pressure pump from the energy recovery device. These two factors combine to give you much more flexibility in optimizing train sizes and selecting the best high-pressure pump for your project. Retrofitting existing plants with P devices can reduce the power consumption of existing systems by as much as 60%.
E announced a 15-year deal with an Oil giant uniform. The agreement provides exclusive rights to E’s V hydraulic pumping system, the first hydraulic fracturing manifold (“missile”) built to isolate hydraulic fracturing pumps from abrasive proppants that cause pump failure.
The V system is a hydraulic pumping system that replaces the missiles traditionally used in hydraulic fracturing. In current operations, the missile routes water, proppants (sand or ceramics) and chemicals downhole at treating pressures up to 15,000 psi. However, the proppants cause frequent failures in the high pressure hydraulic fracturing pumps. With V, high-pressure hydraulic fracturing pumps will process clean or proppant-free water and transfer the hydraulic energy to the hydraulic fracturing fluid within the V missile.
E’s President and Chief Executive Officer Joel Gay stated, “We believe V is a paradigm shift for the hydraulic fracturing industry as it significantly reduces maintenance costs associated with pumping downtimes and provides considerable redundancy efficiencies.”
“We believe this technology offers them the immediate benefit of reducing wear and tear on its pumps, as well as reducing downtime. In the medium-term, we believe it provides them additional savings associated with eliminating redundant equipment onsite,” said Gay. “For a company in this market who wants to keep producing but needs to be mindful of costs, this technology tackles these challenges and delivers meaningful results.”
The heart of the V system is E’s P technology, which is the leading pressure E device in desalination with over 16,000 devices deployed globally. The technology works by capturing and recycling otherwise wasted pressure energy in fluid flows, by a clean liquid-to-liquid energy exchange between high pressure and low pressure fluids. With a single moving part made of tungsten carbide, one of the most abrasion resistant materials on the planet, the system has been engineered to withstand tremendous pressure and harsh conditions, and transfers up to 95% of the hydraulic energy from one fluid to the next.
For hydraulic fracturing engineers, one of the biggest problems on the jobsite is pump failure. When pumps break down, the entire operation grinds to a halt. V uses E’s revolutionary P technology to re-route abrasive proppants away from high-pressure pumps. It ensures that only pure water touches the pumps, extending pump lifespans to new levels.

Profits Under Pressure

Built Tough as the Job
V defends high-pressure pumps through major leaps in both engineering and materials science.
Made from tungsten carbide, the heart of the V hydraulic pumping system is 1,000x more abrasion-resistant than steel. Engineered with a single moveable part, it’s designed to endure extraordinarily high pressures, high flows, extreme temperatures and harsh proppants.
A New Freedom in Hydraulic Fracturing
The V hydraulic pumping system is manufactured as a complete manifold trailer, and fits into a frac fleet like a traditional missile.
Since V handles abrasive proppants and extends the life of pumps, operators can explore new ways to configure frac sites, including swapping positive displacement pumps with more efficient pumping solutions, and using idle equipment at other sites. V opens a new realm of possibilities.
SAVE TIME, MONEY AND PUMPS
For many hydraulic fracturing engineers, one of the biggest problems on the jobsite is pump failure. When pumps break down, the entire operation grinds to a halt. Work stops–and rofit does too.
Not anymore. We’ve spent millions of dollars and years of research adapting our proven technology in pressurized fluid flows to relieve a major pain point in fracking. The transformative result is the VTM hydraulic pumping system. V isn’t just best-in-class. It’s the only product in its class. V saves time and money by increasing the life expectancy of your pumps, decreasing equipment redundancy, and eliminating the need for plunger pumps. We’ve created a new process, a new market, a new way to pump. And it’s going to change how oil & gas does business.
PROFITS UNDER PRESSURE
Stop losing money on broken and redundant equipment. Until now, fracking has required multiple high-pressure pumps forcing a mixture of water, proppants and chemicals downhole to fracture rock and release natural gas. The fluid ends of those pumps take a beating from constant exposure to sand and chemicals, resulting in abrasive wear and almost daily component replacements–not to mention downtime, constant maintenance and redundant equipment and human resources.
V uses E’s revolutionary P technology to re-route abrasive proppants away from the existing high-pressure pumps. It ensures that only pure water touches the high-pressure pumps, extending the pump lifespan to new industry levels.
With longer-lasting equipment, expect more runtime. Expect that you’ll need fewer backup pump trucks on site. Expect to lower your capital expenditure on every site where you use V. And expect more profits.
