Last week’s jump in US oil inventories came amid a 561,000-barrel/day surge in imports, says S&P Global Platts. That increase, especially shipments from Saudi Arabia, stokes concerns that despite OPEC nations cutting output, exports have not abated. Platts notes daily Saudi oil imports by the US topped 1.5 million barrels last week, the highest since August. That “may have folks questioning the efficacy of their significant production cuts.”
