OPEC Adherence to Quotas May Not Last Much Longer
[Dow Jones] Strong production out of the US is likely to entice oil producers who have agreed to rein in their productions to backpedal on their promises, says Ben Le Brun, a market analyst at optionsXpress. “History has shown that quotas can quickly fly out the windows,” he says, noting that in the short term, market watchers will also be monitoring production data out of Russia. A Reuters poll estimates that Russia’s crude oil production will hit new highs in second half of the year if the production cut deal fails to be renewed after it expires in June.
