The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries is hosting representatives non-OPEC producing countries at a lavish dinner at Vienna’s Palais Ferstel on Wendsday night. The dinner will include speeches from OPEC’s Secretary General Mohammad Barkindo, OPEC member Saudi Arabia’s energy minister Khalid al-Falih and Alexander Novak, the energy minister of Russia, the largest non-OPEC member, according to a program for the dinner viewed by The Wall Street Journal. The dinner comes a day before OPEC, the 13-nation cartel that controls about 40% of global oil production, holds a meeting here to decide on output levels. The group is expected to decide to extend an agreement reached late last year for another nine months into the first quarter of 2018.
